You’ve probably already noticed, but fall this year has looked a bit different than it did last year. Last year I decorated for Halloween on September 22nd (the first official day of autumn). I made cookies, macarons, and stuffed jack-o-lantern peppers, went trick or treating in Disneyland, picked pumpkins at a pumpkin patch, and even visited an apple orchard. I watched a Halloween movie every night of October and even made a drinking game to Hocus Pocus. It was so lit. I loved every second of it.
This year things haven’t really played out the same way. I have more on my plate this time around and can’t devote the proper amount of time to ghoulish baking and celebrating. It makes me a bit sad, sure, but I know that all the things I’m actually devoting my time too are also important so I don’t dwell too much. The apartment is still decorated (pictures below!), I’ve picked up our carving pumpkins, I’ve made a few pumpkin spiced treats, and I’ve already watched the halloween highlights (Hocus Pocus, Addams Family, and Nightmare Before Christmas). I’d say I’m doin’ pretty good, all things considered.
But no matter how busy things are, it wouldn’t feel right to go through fall without a seasonal bucket list. So here’s mine:
- Bake a pie
Decorate for HalloweenMake an at-home pumpkin spice latte- See fall foliage (and wear a sweater and boots!)
- Carve pumpkins
Watch Hocus Pocus, Harry Potter, Corpse Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Addams FamilyListen to a Halloween themed playlist- Make a creepy cocktail (coming soon!)
- Drink apple cider
- Make caramel apples
I know I’m missing a few things. Do me a favor and comment your favorite fall activity (if you’re so inclined) so that I can add to my list!
Apple picking!
