Looking Forward

I’m still deep in resolution mode over here and in every faucet in my life I’m looking to make improvements, this extension of myself included. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about why I write on this, what type of content I create, what type of content I want to create, and how to align those ideas.

I feel proud of the voice I’ve developed thus far on here. It feels genuine. A lot of my posts read like a diary, and I’m okay with that because the whole point of this was to serve as a passion project and document how my interests, tastes, and life in general change. This blog gives me a reason to practice creativity and refine my style. My pictures have gotten better in quality because I’m using my Canon more and learning Photoshop. My ideas have increased in caliber. I’m developing interests and hobbies I never would have otherwise. In short, I’m having a lot of fun.

But I also think I could be doing a lot more on here than I am. I originally felt like I needed to narrow my blog down to a specific set of topics, so that there was a cohesive feel to the whole thing. I’ve been rethinking this. My twenties are not going to be cohesive and organized, no matter how much I yearn for them to be. They will be chaotic and exciting and full of growth! I really want this blog to reflect that. Plus how will I know what I’m really good at writing about if I don’t try a little of everything out? So I’m going to do the unthinkable in the blog-verse and broaden my scope on here. If I feel the inkling to write about something, I just will. That’s the first change. Bear with me.

Next, I’d like to add in a couple of series. All my favorite blogs incorporate series and the dependability of them appeals to me a lot. I haven’t put a huge amount of thought into what those series will be, but maybe a monthly What I’m Reading?

And that’s it for now. It’s time to read before bed and get to sleep before 10:30 (2 other resolutions!)
